Dr. Jonathan Loo brings almost forty years of experience in optometric practice to the Brookside Optometric Group. Born in San Francisco, Dr. Loo's family moved to Stockton when he was only one-year old. Deep roots were planted as he grew up and attended schools here, graduating from A. A. Stagg High School and then attending the University of the Pacific. He completed his undergraduate education at the University of California at Berkeley, with a Bachelor's Degree in Bacteriology, and then earned his Doctor of Optometry degree at Pacific University College of Optometry in Forest Grove, Oregon.
Returning to Stockton — "where the sun always shines!" — he established his optometric practice in 1976. He was fortunate to practice with his friend and mentor Marion Harris, O.D. for many years, later with his buddy Chris Iwata, O.D., and then with Mort Horn, O.D., all longtime Stocktonians. His association with these doctors strengthened Dr. Loo's intention to not only provide the highest level of optometric vision care, but also to do so with respect, compassion and integrity. So now, by joining with Brookside Optometric Group, Dr. Loo knows these same values will continue.
In 2003, he followed in Dr. Fujii's footsteps and became clinical director at the Pacific Laser Eye Laser for almost four years, while still maintaining his private practice. He gained invaluable clinical experience at this surgical center in caring for refractive surgery patients.
Although he has happily traveled to different parts of the world on eye mission trips to bring vision care to needy populations, Dr. Loo strongly believes, like his new colleagues at Brookside, that his hometown of Stockton, California, has many needs as well. He has been a provider at health fairs, including the former Su Salud, which back then brought the entire health care community together to help Stockton's people. He is currently a member of North Stockton Rotary, board member of Quan Ying, a housing community in Stockton's old Chinatown, board member of The Pacific Athletic Foundation (Go Tigers!!!), and recently joined the Impact Society at St. Mary's Dining Hall. He believes that all of these organizations do help our City of Stockton become a better place to live, and intends to continue to support the community. Dr. Loo looks forward to a new and exciting chapter in his professional career with Brookside Optometric Group.
